16-year-old girl emerges Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant
A 16-year-old Nigerian, , has made history after emerging as the country's youngest chartered accountant, setting a new national record.
Okundaye achieved the milestone after successfully qualifying through the professional examinations, becoming the youngest person to attain the prestigious qualification in Nigeria.
Her accomplishment surpasses the previous record set in 2022 by , who became a chartered accountant at the age of 17.
The feat, widely regarded as exceptional given the rigorous nature of the ICAN examinations, has attracted national recognition, with the Minister of Youth Development, describing it as a testament to hard work, discipline, resilience and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
In a statement issued on Monday, the minister said Okundaye's achievement demonstrated the limitless potential of Nigerian youths and should inspire young people across the country to pursue excellence and break barriers.
He also commended her parents, family, teachers and mentors for their support, noting that their encouragement and sacrifices contributed significantly to her success.
Olawande reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development's commitment to implementing programmes and policies that empower young Nigerians to realise their full potential, expressing confidence that the country's future remains bright in the hands of focused and talented youths.
