- Says Candidates Can Print Mock Slip, Pay N1,000

As part of the preparations for the smooth conduct of the 2022 Mock examination and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has charged the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) to be proactive in the discharge of its responsibilities.

The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, gave the charge at a meeting with top officials of the Corps recently  in Abuja.

Jambulletin reports that the Registrar expressed displeasure with the conduct of some of the NSCDC personnel during the 2021 UTME/DE urged the Corps to be proactive in all matters arising from the conduct of the examination and other engagements with JAMB to address those issues as promptly as possible.

Prof.Oloyede pointed out that some of the NSCDC personnel had been implicated in misdemeanours ranging from lateness to examination venues to extortion of candidates, among others.

He urged the Corps to take necessary measures in sanctioning these bad eggs in its system.

He stated further that if appropriate sanctions are meted out to these erring officers, the frequency of the reported violations would be reduced or, at best, eradicated.

He reiterated the Board's desire to continue to partner with the Corps given its strategic role in the conduct of its annual examination.

In his remarks, the Ag. Deputy Commandant-General, Operations, Mr. Mohammed Haruna Lawal, promised to look into the issues raised to address them.

The Ag. DCG, thereafter, informed the Registrar of the upcoming meeting between the NSCDC Commandant-General and the State Commandants where some of the grey areas would be discussed.

The meeting would also afford the Corps the opportunity to fish out the bad eggs among its officers to mete out appropriate punishments to any officer found culpable.

He reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC leadership to the JAMB-NSCDC partnership, which he said was for the betterment of the education system and the nation as a whole.

In another development, the Board has asked candidates, who had registered for the 2022 UTME exercise and indicated their interest to sit the Mock-UTME to proceed to print their mock examination notification slip which indicates the centre they have been assigned to take the examination.

According to JAMB, the slip can be printed anywhere at the candidates' convenience by visiting https://www.jamb.gov.ng.

The notification slip contains the venue(centre) the candidates would sit for the examination, the time and date of the examination and other necessary instructions.

Besides, the Board directed all candidates who had indicated their interest to sit the optional Mock-UTME to pay N1,000 to the CBT centre where they are assigned to sit the examination as a service charge.

It explained that the N1,000 was meant for the use of the private facilities deployed for the examination.

The optional mock examination was introduced by the Board to give candidates the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the CBT environment.

"The candidates who indicated their interest to take the examination are to pay the N1000 at their respective centres for the use of the private facilities deployed for the examination."
