The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ogun State, Prince Babajide Rotimi, has vowed to investigate the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun if elected governor in the 2027 governorship election.

Rotimi, a town planner and farmer, made the declaration while speaking on The Arena, an Abeokuta-based podcast, where he outlined his plans for the state and explained his ambition to succeed Abiodun.

The APM candidate said his ambition was driven by a desire to correct what he described as anomalies in the state and change the narrative of governance.

He, however, did not provide specific details of the proposed investigation during the interactive session.

Rotimi, who expressed confidence in his chances at the polls, insisted that he was in the race to win and had no intention of negotiating with other political interests or withdrawing from the contest.

He also denied allegations that he was being sponsored by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his decision to contest on the APM platform was based on his personal convictions.

“I am not contesting to negotiate, neither am I contesting to chicken out. I am in the race to win, and it will surprise everyone. People will be asking, ‘Where is this man coming from?’ I am going to correct the anomalies. I am coming to change the narrative. I am not being sponsored by the opposition APC. Only God is my sponsor,” he said.

Rotimi described the APM as the only party in Ogun State without internal division, urging residents to consider the party as an alternative in the 2027 election.

He promised that an APM-led administration would prioritise poverty reduction, security and job creation, while identifying youth empowerment and food security as key components of his development agenda.

According to him, his administration, if elected, would encourage young people to embrace agriculture by making farming easier and establishing agricultural hubs in strategic locations to facilitate transactions.

He added that designated locations would be provided for livestock farming as part of efforts to boost agricultural production and strengthen food security.

The candidate urged Ogun residents not to mortgage their future by voting for parties he accused of being plagued by internal divisions and lacking concrete solutions to the state's challenges.

He called on the electorate to vote for the APM in the 2027 governorship election.
