A former member of the House of Representatives representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Hon. Segun Williams, has announced his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Williams disclosed that he had formally communicated his decision to leave the party through a letter, while expressing appreciation to the APC for the opportunity to serve under its platform.

The former lawmaker expressed optimism about the prospects of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the combination of personalities in the party as a winning team capable of securing victory in the next election cycle.

He, however, urged his supporters and followers to remain calm amid speculations about his next political move.

Williams acknowledged a former governor of Ogun State as his political leader but expressly distanced himself from the Senator Ibikunle Amosun (SIA) Movement.

The former federal lawmaker also challenged his contemporaries to a public debate on his legislative record, citing several interventions he facilitated during his tenure at the National Assembly.

These, he said, included the dredging of boreholes, facilitation of employment opportunities for residents of Abeokuta South Federal Constituency and the execution of other developmental projects.
