Former Jigawa State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has dismissed the chances of the proposed G-100 opposition coalition defeating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Lamido described the emerging alliance as an internal struggle among politicians from the same political family, arguing that many of those involved had previously belonged to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or its predecessor political formations.

The former governor spoke while responding to journalists’ questions on reports that the G-100 coalition was mobilising opposition parties and prominent politicians around a single presidential candidate to challenge Tinubu in 2027.

Lamido, however, said he was not familiar with the group or its activities and therefore could not meaningfully comment on its plans.

“I’m not aware of this group. If they are really a group of 100, tell me who they are so that I can comment. I don’t know them. Who are they?”

When journalists drew his attention to prominent opposition figures reportedly associated with the coalition, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Rotimi Amaechi, Lamido said he was not interested in their political activities.

He argued that most of the politicians had moved through different political platforms before eventually becoming associated with the APC, making their current disagreements essentially an internal dispute.

“You are talking about people from the same political background. They are from the same family. So why should I come into it? What should I comment? It is a family affair,” he said.
