The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has told members of his congregation to give abductors his phone number if they are kidnapped.
Oyedepo gave the instruction during a church service while recounting past incidents involving alleged abductions of members.
A video of the sermon has since gone viral on social media.
Addressing the congregation, the cleric spoke about a previous case in which a pastor linked to the church was kidnapped, claiming he intervened spiritually in the situation.
“One time one of our pastor was carried by kidnappers, I said give him the phone. I said in 24 hours if you don’t check him out you are dead. The place was vibrating on a spot.”
Oyedepo added that he remains confident in his spiritual authority and urged members not to panic in such situations.
“If anybody picks you, give them my number. If he is not cut down then I am not God sent. You carry the same force if you can only discover it. You need to discover what you carry"
He also recalled an accident when he claimed one of the church's daughters was kidnapped and how the kidnappers started attacking themselves upon hearing his name.
"One of those our daughters was captured somewhere 'he' said my father said 'I am getting out of here latest by 7am. Not that I spoke to them, I didn't. They started cutting themselves, some said you should go, and some said she shouldn't go.
"They started cutting themselves, not cutting my daughter, they were cutting themselves. They said, please start going.
"Don't let the devil ride on you, you have been raised above the devil."
