The Obidient Movement has inaugurated its Ogun State executive, signalling a renewed effort to strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration took place on Tuesday, at Omu-Ijebu, during the inaugural meeting of Local Government Women Leaders and Youth Leaders drawn from across the state.

Chief Mrs. Wuraola Adeshina was introduced as the State Coordinator, while Hon. Itunu Temitayo Abioro was named Deputy State Coordinator and Hon. Olurebi Sunday as Secretary.

Adeshina, described as an experienced grassroots politician, is the Otun Iyalode of Elere Onigbenu Kingdom, a former Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abeokuta North Local Government Area and the current State Woman Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

She has also served in various campaign coordination roles and is expected to draw on her political experience to strengthen the movement's presence across Ogun State.

In her acceptance remarks, Adeshina expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in her and other members of the executive, pledging to build a formidable grassroots structure.

She said the movement would prioritise organisation, mobilisation and inclusive participation, urging members across the state's 20 local government areas and 236 wards to unite towards achieving its objectives.

“Our task is clear: to organise, to mobilise, and to ensure that every Obidient member in Ogun State has a voice and a role to play,” she said.

The newly introduced Secretary, Olurebi, who also serves as the Ogun State Youth Leader of the NDC, pledged to promote transparency, administrative efficiency and accountability in the movement's operations.

He said he would work towards establishing disciplined and sustainable administrative processes to support the movement's activities.

Abioro, the NDC senatorial candidate for Ogun West, also pledged his support for the State Coordinator, promising to help extend the movement's structure to every ward in the state.

He brings political experience to the position, having previously served as state chairman of the Young Democratic Party (YDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State.

The inauguration forms part of the movement's efforts to consolidate its organisational structures ahead of the 2027 elections, with an emphasis on grassroots mobilisation, youth participation and accountable leadership.

The movement describes itself as a grassroots political platform committed to good governance, accountability and inclusive leadership. It also declared its support for the presidential candidacies of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
