A former commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives in Ogun State, Abayomi Semako Hunye, has obtained the governorship nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC), disruption the consensus arrangement in the State.

Hunye’s move comes despite the recent adoption of Senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate.

Hunye who also served as a Commissioner in the Civil Service Commission obtained the nomination form through a third party in Abuja on the same day, Adeola also secured his nomination form through his media aide, Chief Kayode Odunaro.

Confirming the development in a brief telephone interview, Hunye simply told Journalists, “That’s a fact.”

However, when asked whether his action was in defiance of the party’s consensus decision, he declined further comment, saying, “Don’t ask me such a question, please.”

Leaders of the party in the state, including Governor Dapo Abiodun, had recently endorsed Adeola during a strategic caucus meeting held at the APC secretariat in Abeokuta.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including former governors Olusegun Osoba, Ibikunle Amosun, and Gbenga Daniel, as well as other aspirants such as Iyabo Obasanjo, Gboyega Isiaka, Tunde Lemo, and Isiak Akinlade.

Hunye, who hails from Ogun West like Adeola, was absent from the meeting.
