The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, has commended residents of the state for their peaceful conduct and active participation during the just-concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Dr. Agboke gave the commendation while monitoring the final day of the registration exercise at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Local Government Offices in Ondo East, Ondo West and Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Areas.

Accompanied by the Administrative Secretary, Mrs. Adenike Tadese, the REC received briefings from Electoral Officers on the conduct of the exercise in their respective local government areas.

Addressing journalists during the monitoring visit, Agboke expressed appreciation to the people of Ondo State for taking advantage of the opportunity to register and be included in the National Register of Voters.

He explained that the relatively low turnout recorded at some registration centres was largely due to INEC's Self-Service Registration Policy, which enables eligible citizens to initiate and complete their voter registration online before visiting designated centres for biometric capture where necessary.

The REC urged all newly registered voters, as well as those who applied for transfers or updates of their voter records, to demonstrate the same level of commitment when the Commission announces the commencement of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection.

He also encouraged eligible voters to turn out in large numbers during the 2027 General Elections, assuring them of INEC's commitment to conducting free, fair, credible and transparent elections in which every valid vote would count.
