The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have filed separate petitions challenging the re-election of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The two petitions, dated September 5, were displayed on the notice board of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal Secretariat in Osogbo on Monday, formally setting the legal process in motion.

The development followed confirmation by the tribunal’s Secretary, Pefe Belemore, that petitions challenging the election outcome had been filed.

The APC petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was filed by its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, against Governor Adeleke, the Accord Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Similarly, the PDP petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, was filed by Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola against Adeleke, INEC and the Accord Party.

Both parties are challenging the outcome of the election which saw Adeleke secure another term in office.

The display of the petitions is expected to pave the way for the service of court processes on the respondents and subsequent proceedings before the tribunal.

Officials of the Accord Party and members of its legal team were also seen at the tribunal premises on Monday.
