Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has called on a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. James Faleke, to respect the wishes of the people of Osun State and refrain from mounting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election.

Davido made the call in a post on his X handle on Saturday, as the collation of results from the August 15 governorship election continued at designated centres across the state.

The singer, who is a nephew of Governor Ademola Adeleke, specifically urged Faleke to accept the choice of Osun voters and allow the electoral process to run its course without interference.

“Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO,” Davido wrote on X.

His comment came amid heightened tension as officials continued the collation of results from the various local government areas, with supporters of the major political parties closely monitoring the process.

Davido’s intervention also adds to the growing public debate surrounding the credibility of the election and the need for all political actors to respect the outcome declared by the electoral umpire.
