Oyo Govt Demolishes Building Used as Kidnappers’ Hideout in Adelabu Family Abduction
The Oyo State Government on Monday demolished a three-bedroom bungalow used as a hideout by kidnappers involved in the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.
The property, located in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun-Anaye Road area of Ibadan, was pulled down by officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation in collaboration with operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
The demolition followed the successful rescue of the victims, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted on June 3, 2026, at the Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan.
Security agencies had earlier traced the kidnappers' operations to the hideout during an intelligence-led operation that led to the rescue of the victims and the arrest of several suspects linked to the crime.
Government officials said the demolition formed part of broader measures aimed at dismantling criminal infrastructure and sending a strong message to individuals using residential properties for unlawful activities.
The state government noted that the action reflects its determination to combat kidnapping, violent crime and other security threats across Oyo State.
Officials further reiterated the government's commitment to working closely with security agencies to identify, apprehend and prosecute criminal elements, while ensuring the safety of residents and visitors to the state.
