The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, on Thursday defied heavy rainfall to monitor the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Ondo North Local Government Area.

Thus reaffirmes the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) commitment to ensuring that every eligible voter is registered.

Dr. Agboke, who was accompanied by the Administrative Secretary of the Commission, Adenike Tadese, and other members of the state management team, inspected the Commission's Local Government Office and the designated CVR registration centre at St. James Anglican Primary School, Ward 6, Itaogbolu.

The monitoring team was received by the Electoral Officer for Ondo North Local Government Area, Mr. Agunniyi Femi, who welcomed the REC and briefed him on the conduct of the exercise.

During the inspection, the REC observed registration officials attending to prospective registrants and expressed satisfaction with the orderly conduct of the exercise and the officials' commitment to discharging their responsibilities in accordance with INEC's operational guidelines.

Dr. Agboke commended the dedication and resilience of the registration personnel despite the inclement weather, stressing that the Commission remains committed to providing all eligible Nigerians with the opportunity to register and participate in the electoral process.

He assured prospective voters that every eligible applicant who presents themselves before the close of the registration exercise would be attended to, in line with the Commission's guidelines.

The REC also appealed to residents who are yet to register or those seeking to transfer, replace, or update their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the remaining days of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise before the registration window officially closes.

The monitoring visit forms part of INEC's ongoing statewide assessment aimed at ensuring compliance with operational procedures, enhancing service delivery, and guaranteeing a seamless voter registration process across Ondo State.
