Speaking in a video shared by BRICS News via X.com on Saturday, Trump did not mince words when asked about his earlier threat to the Colombian leader.
“Well, he has cocaine mills, he has factories where he makes cocaine, and yeah, I think I stick by my first statement. He’s making cocaine, they’re sending it into the United States, so he does have to watch his ass,” Trump declared during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Earlier, the Colombian President took to his X page to decry the invasion of Venezuela by America.
He wrote, “The Government of the Republic of Colombia observes with deep concern the reports of explosions and unusual aerial activity recorded in recent hours in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as well as the consequent escalation of tension in the region.”
The Colombian government announced plans to fortify its 2,219-kilometre eastern land border with Venezuela following the U.S. military operation.
Petro also fired back at Trump’s accusations, stating he “is not worried about anything” and challenged the American leader to visit Colombia to see how his government destroys cocaine laboratories “one every 40 minutes, without missiles.”
The U.S. launched what Trump called “one of the most stunning displays of American military might since World War II” early Saturday morning, involving at least 150 aircraft in coordinated strikes across Venezuela.
Maduro and his wife were captured and flown out of the country. They are now facing charges of narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy and weapons offenses in New York.
Recall that on Christmas Day, Trump ordered airstrikes in Sokoto State after an agreement with the Federal Government to target ISIS militants, having designated Nigeria “a country of particular concern” over religious freedom in October.
Trump has explicitly threatened that if Nigeria fails to stop what he calls the killing of Christians, “the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists.”
