MagistrateAbdulsalam Busayo Salamat of the Egba Owode Magisterial Division has been honoured as the Magistrate of the Year 2026 by the Ogun State Judiciary.

The award was presented during the official ceremonies marking the 2026 Ogun State Judicial Week held at the Judicial Complex, Kobape, Abeokuta.

The recognition highlights Abdulsalam’s dedication to judicial service, administrative competence and commitment to the administration of justice in the state.

Born on June 16, 1985, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, Abdulsalam began her legal career in 2012 with the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Council, where she was involved in legal drafting and administrative duties.

She later gained experience in private legal practice, working with Laja Durojaiye & Co. between 2013 and 2014, Daramola & Co. from 2014 to 2017, and B.S. Abdulsalam & Co. between 2017 and 2018.

Abdulsalam joined the Ogun State Judiciary in 2018 as a Magistrate on Grade Level 2 and was elevated to Magistrate Grade 1 in July 2021 in recognition of her professional progression.

She has also contributed to the development of the judiciary through her involvement in key committees, including the Magistrates Journal and Training Committee and the Magistrates Conference Planning Committee.

Her record of service has attracted several formal letters of commendation from the Chief Judge of Ogun State for her work ethic, efficiency and commitment to judicial duties.

Abdulsalam holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree obtained in 2011 and a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree obtained in 2022, both from Lagos State University. She also obtained her qualifying Barrister-at-Law (BL) certificate from the Nigerian Law School.
