INEC Deploys Personnel, Materials Ahead of Ondo South Bye-Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has intensified preparations for the Ondo South Senatorial District Bye-Election, with the deployment of election personnel and materials to riverine and other hard-to-reach communities across the district.
At about 4:30 p.m. on Friday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Lagos State, Prof. Ayobami Salami, who is part of the INEC team deployed to oversee the conduct of the election, supervised the movement of election personnel and materials to Registration Area Centres (RACs) in Ilaje Local Government Area.
He was accompanied by the Electoral Officer for Ilaje Local Government, Mr. Tope Onajobi.
The exercise formed part of the Commission's efforts to ensure the timely and efficient commencement of polling activities in all designated locations on election day.
INEC disclosed that election officials deployed to the riverine and difficult-to-access areas would spend the night at the RACs to facilitate early deployment to polling units on Saturday.
The Ondo State REC, Barrister Dr. Mutiu Agboke, is leading the Commission's operations for the bye-election, while Prof. Salami and other senior officials are providing additional oversight to ensure a transparent, peaceful and credible electoral process.
The Commission further confirmed that RACs have been successfully activated across all Registration Areas in the six local government areas where the bye-election will take place.
With the extensive logistical arrangements already in place, INEC expressed confidence in its readiness to conduct a smooth, peaceful, free, fair and credible Ondo South Senatorial District Bye-Election.
