APC's Faduyile Wins Ondo South Senatorial Bye-Election
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Faduyile Francis Adedayo, has been declared the winner of the Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election conducted on Saturday.
Returning Officer for the election, Professor Gbenga Ibileye, announced the result at the senatorial district collation centre in Okitipupa, Ondo State, after the conclusion of the collation process.
According to the official declaration of results, Professor Faduyile polled 68,474 votes to secure victory over three other candidates in the contest.
The breakdown of the results showed that Akinwumi Adeolu Harrison of the African People's Movement (APM) scored 1,411 votes, while Adesanya Olaoluwa of the Action People's Party (APP) garnered 213 votes.
Nejo Funso Clement of the Boot Party (BP) received 70 votes.
Professor Faduyile, a former National President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and Special Adviser on Health to the Ondo State Governor, emerged victorious with a wide margin to clinch the senatorial seat.
Declaring the result, the Returning Officer stated that Faduyile, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes cast, was duly returned elected as the Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District.
The bye-election was conducted to fill the vacant senatorial seat in the district, with voters across the six local government areas of Ondo South participating in the exercise.
