The women leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ogun State has challenged the party’s 2027 aspirants to make the welfare, safety, education and economic empowerment of women and the girl child central to their political campaigns.

The call was made by the Ogun State Woman Leader of the party, Mrs Wuraola Adeshina, as the NDC commenced its pre-campaign tour across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Adeshina, who represents Abeokuta North, said the party’s political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections must go beyond electoral promises by addressing issues that directly affect women and girls across the state.

She identified safety, access to quality education and economic inclusion as key areas that should receive sustained attention from NDC aspirants during the campaign season.

The State Woman Leader spoke while declaring the collective support of the party’s female leadership for the NDC’s 2027 political project.

She was joined by the three Senatorial Women Leaders — Babatunde Omolara for Ogun West, Adepegba Nofisat for Ogun Central and Mrs Bunmi Oshinaike for Ogun East — in pledging their support for the party’s candidates.

Adeshina also disclosed that all 20 Local Government Women Leaders in Ogun State had pledged their support for the party’s 2027 campaign.

She called for greater political attention to the challenges confronting women and the girl child, stressing the need for policies that would enhance their security, educational opportunities and economic participation.

The State Woman Leader also commended the party’s state executive for what she described as inclusive leadership, particularly the State Chairman, Mr Femi Alao; Deputy Chairman, Mr Orefuja; and Secretary, Alhaji Alapoti.

She equally described the party’s 2027 governorship candidate, Dr Marie, as “an inspiration for every aspiring female politician in Ogun State.”

The NDC’s pre-campaign tour is expected to continue across the three senatorial districts as the party seeks to consolidate its grassroots structure and develop a political platform that places women and the girl child at the centre of its agenda for Ogun State.
