The Ogun State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the killing of a retired staff member of Ogun State Television (OGTV), Ms Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as "Aunty Kitan," and her security guard at her residence in Agodo community along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway.

The victims were reportedly murdered by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the early hours of Sunday, sending shockwaves across the media community and among residents of the state.

Sources in the community disclosed that the gruesome discovery was made after members of Ms Oyesiku's church became concerned when she failed to attend a church service and could not be reached.

According to a resident who spoke on condition of anonymity, the church members visited her residence to check on her welfare and found signs of tragedy.

"What we heard was that some church members came around to check on Ms Oyesiku when they did not see her in church. On getting to her residence, they discovered that the security guard had been killed. They later found Ms Oyesiku's body inside the house and immediately raised the alarm," the source said.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the matter was reported at the Owode-Egba Police Division on Sunday by a resident of Iyana Agodo Village who observed suspicious activities at the deceased's residence.

In a statement, Babaseyi disclosed that detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where preliminary findings revealed evidence of forced entry and signs of disturbance within the premises.

"During a thorough search of the premises, the corpse of the security guard was discovered within the security post, while the body of Ms Oyesiku was later found inside her apartment. The victim's vehicle was also observed missing from the premises," he stated.

The remains of the deceased have since been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, while investigators continue efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered an intensive investigation into the incident, directing detectives to track down and apprehend those responsible for the killings.

According to the police, surveillance and intelligence-driven operations have been expanded across relevant locations as part of efforts to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

The command expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased, the management and staff of OGTV, the media community, and all those affected by the tragic loss.

It also assured residents that no effort would be spared in ensuring that justice is served.

Ms Oyesiku was widely respected in broadcasting circles, having dedicated many years of service to Ogun State Television before her retirement
