The Presidency has hit back at the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, over his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election, accusing the former Labour Party candidate of political arrogance and living in a “political fantasy land.”

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, described Obi as “fat on ambition but drunk on political arrogance.”

He also dismissing his continued assertion that he won the 2023 election.

Dare said Obi’s claim amounted to “clear hallucination” following the Supreme Court’s final judgment on the election, which affirmed President Tinubu’s victory.

“Peter Obi wallows freely in a political fantasy land. To still insist he won the presidential election after the country’s highest court, the Supreme Court, delivered a final judgment is clear hallucination,” Dare said.

The presidential aide also questioned Obi’s suggestion that he could concede or refuse to concede an election, insisting that the power to determine electoral victory rests with Nigerian voters.

“Who imbued him with the power to concede or not? He lacks such power. Only the Nigerian people have the power of the votes,” he said.

Dare further predicted that voters would return Tinubu to office in 2027, claiming that the president would secure massive support at the polls and leave no room for what he described as Obi’s “antics.”
